Learn to distinguish normal teenage behavior from a more serious mental disorder. Some adolescent behaviors such as risk-taking, peer-pressure motivation, and attention seeking are completely normal. The stress and pressure that is placed on today’s youth can put them at risk for a variety of mental health disorders, which include depression, anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, and more. Do not be afraid to address a mental health problem if you suspect one and seek help from an experienced therapist. Brain maturation does not set in until the early 20s.
