About OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
A few examples of compulsions include excessive hand washing, continuous straightening, checking, and recounting. Symptoms usually begin gradually and vary throughout life. OCD is a brain disorder that affects 1 out of 40 individuals who perform excessive and repetitive behaviors in order to provide temporary relief from the stress brought on by an unwanted thought or feeling. A behavior of occasional double-checking if the stove is off or concern about the well-being of others should not become excessive and interfere with your ability to lead a normal life. If so, it may be time to get help.
